a certain regard

what is it? the first time i saw this yves tanguy work and others
in a 70's moma catalog i couldn't quite figure out.
but there was enough happening on the surface of these to suggest a life,
enough graphemes to make even derrida proud.

we all have memories of quimper and if we don't
we should go make some immediately.

beautiful asshole ascending

all gone the mother
the letter-opener
seductress
the bitch
and caregiver
...
discard the picture and the frame
the broom
the apron
the precious stones
the mortgage
and the cage
...
allow that home-bound
become home-sick
that loyal
turn to love ya'll
that honey
sour to wax
...
provide
for passion
verve
reverb
the body
and its flirt
...
discard, allow, provide?
it's up to her now

juicy

Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...
(It's all good)

the city

You said: “I’ll go to another country, go to another shore,
find another city better than this one.
Whatever I try to do is fated to turn out wrong
and my heart lies buried as though it were something dead.
How long can I let my mind moulder in this place?
Wherever I turn, wherever I happen to look,
I see the black ruins of my life, here,
where I’ve spent so many years, wasted them, destroyed them totally.”

You won’t find a new country, won’t find another shore.
This city will always pursue you. You will walk
the same streets, grow old in the same neighborhoods,
will turn gray in these same houses.
You will always end up in this city. Don’t hope for things elsewhere:
there is no ship for you, there is no road.
As you’ve wasted your life here, in this small corner,
you’ve destroyed it everywhere else in the world.

truth be told

Salieri and Mozart even composed a cantata for voice and piano together, called Per la ricuperata salute di Ophelia which was celebrating the return to stage of the singer Nancy Storace.

always crashing in the same car

Every chance, every chance that I take
I take it on the road
Those kilometres and the red lights
I was always looking left and right
Oh, but I'm always crashing in the same car
Jasmine, I saw you peeping
As I pushed my foot down to the floor
I was going round and round the hotel garage
Must have been touching close to 94
Oh, but I'm always crashing in the same car

we fly like paper get high like planes

green for green:

the advantages of 3D

we all look like buddy holly with our glasses on. they get in the way of kissing in the dark of the movie theater. we see 3D. it is a bit reductive. cinema replaced opera replaced vaudeville replaced drama replaced religious ritual. and now cinema is trying to simulate all of the above. the actress points a gun towards the person she's talking to, in the general direction of the audience. the threat is familiar and innocuous. we paid the ticket price not to be shot, but to be able to kiss in the dark undisturbed.
