the advantages of 3D

we all look like buddy holly with our glasses on. they get in the way of kissing in the dark of the movie theater. we see 3D. it is a bit reductive. cinema replaced opera replaced vaudeville replaced drama replaced religious ritual. and now cinema is trying to simulate all of the above. the actress points a gun towards the person she's talking to, in the general direction of the audience. the threat is familiar and innocuous. we paid the ticket price not to be shot, but to be able to kiss in the dark undisturbed.
